Hydrologic Technician

As directed, performs technical work in the field and/or laboratory which involves a variety of duties such as the following:
Performs a variety of tasks involved in the compilation and tabulation of technical data which serves as a base for more complex technical studies made by hydrologists, other physican science specialists or higher-level technicians. Works from specified data sources, assembles data from streamflow records and sediment sample records and loads on microcomputer. Utilizes computer programs provided,for uploading daily, monthly and annual sediment data for each suspended sediment station computed. Follows established procedures, reviews computer output for apparent consistency and brings instances of apparent significant deviation to the supervisor's attention for consideration. Prepares and tabulates results for filing and/or publication. Performs various tasks relative to the computation, compilation, and presentation of basic hydrologic data for subsequent use by hydrologists and civil engineers in river forecasting, preparation of studies, etc. Prepares stage duration and flow frequency curves for specified points or areas, working from supplied source material to tabulate stage and flow data. Enters material into computer through operation of local terminal to complete points and values to be plotted. Tabulates rainfall data, computes mean rainfall for specified time periods, plots these data on prepared maps showing location of observation stations, and draws in the connecting isohyetal lines. Prepares data input of this information for computer program preparation of flood control project reports. Performs other duties as assigned. You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. (6) six months of general experience and (6) six months of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-03 grade level. General experience is defined as:
Performed farm/ranch labor, such as feeding and tending livestock or general maintenance of farm/ranch facilities; Cleaned tools and equipment; Worked in a greenhouse or nursery moving, watering, and tending plants and performing other general labor; Worked on a landscape or construction crew; Other work experience, paid or unpaid, that demonstrates an ability to learn and perform the work of this position. Specialized experience is defined as:
A technician or aid in engineering, earth, physical, or natural science, forestry, soil conservation or surveying.-OR Successful completion of 2-years of study, that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of the following courses:
engineering, industrial technology, construction drafting, surveying, physical science, biology, or mathematics. -OR A combination of education and experience listed above. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
