Forester

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Manages forest landscapes, forest and woodland sale planning, forest product sales and administration, reforestation, and forest stand improvements. Plans and implements technical projects and performs leadership duties in support of forestry-oriented, multiple-use land management programs, including coordination with appropriate staff and other agencies to accomplish the work. Conduct project evaluations and develop reports on accomplishments. Physical Demands:
Some of the work of the position is performed in an office however, there is also considerable field work involved in the performance this work. Field work requires long periods of time walking over steep and rough terrain, extremely dense brush, logging slash and tree covered terrain, often wet or occasionally covered with snow. Work Environment:
The work of this position is sometimes performed in an office setting with adequate lighting and temperatures. However, much of the work is performed outdoors. Exposure to extremes of hot, cold, rainy or snowy weather is common. The position requires operation of motor vehicles on narrow mountainous roads as necessary to get to and from job locations in the field. Protective gear is necessary for field work. Basic Education RequirementThis position has a basic education requirement. In order to meet this requirement, applicants must have (A) successfully completed a degree in forestry; or a related subject-matter field that included a total of at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours of course work were in forestry. The curriculum must have been sufficiently diversified to include courses in each of the following areas:
Management of Renewable Resources -- study of the science and art of managing renewable resources to attain desired results. Examples of creditable courses in this area include silviculture, forest management operations, timber management, wildland fire science or fire management, utilization of forest resources, forest regulation, recreational land management, watershed management, and wildlife or range habitat management. Forest Biology -- study of the classification, distribution, characteristics, and identification of forest vegetation, and the interrelationships of living organisms to the forest environment. Examples of creditable courses in this area include dendrology, forest ecology, silvics, forest genetics, wood structure and properties, forest soils, forest entomology, and forest pathology. Forest Resource Measurements and Inventory -- sampling, inventory, measurement, and analysis techniques as applied to a variety of forest resources. Examples of creditable courses include forest biometrics, forest mensuration, forest valuation, statistical analysis of forest resource data, renewable natural resources inventories and analysis, and photogrammetry or remote sensing. or (B) a combination of education and
Experience:
courses equivalent to a major in forestry, or at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours were in forestry. The requirements for diversification of the 24 semester hours in forestry are the same as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.Specialized ExperienceIn order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. At the GS-09 levelIn addition to meeting the basic education requirements outlined above, applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Examples of specialized experience include assisting in the areas of the following:
(1) evaluating environmental assessments to report on public concerns, opportunities, and alternatives; (2) drafting advertisement documents on forestry projects following the appropriate policy and guidance; (3) performing on-the-ground technical evaluations of forest and woodland products; and (4) developing contract stipulations and exhibits to meet special conditions to reduce environmental impacts. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Substitution of Education:
In lieu of specialized experience, applicants may substitute their education. Qualifying education at the GS-09 level includes 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR A combination of both graduate education and experience may be qualifying at either grade level. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
